Learn languages easily using your Android for free!

Nowadays knowing a second language like French, German, or Spanish is a must because people go on tour in these places and they need to know how to interact with the native people. Learning a language becomes fun through Duolingo. Duolingo is an app that is available on major platforms(Android, iOS etc). You can also learn through its official website. Duolingo supports many languages for English Speakers(there are options for other language speakers too) - 

  • French
  • Italian
  • German
  • Spanish
  • Portuguese 
  • Dutch(Netherlands)
  • Irish
  • Danish
  • Swedish
  • Turkish
To start using Duolingo sign up on Duolingo's Official Website. You can also sign up when prompted on Android app. You can use your Google or Facebook account for signing up too.

Once you sign up, you'll be asked to choose any of the above courses. Choose your desired language(I'm learning Spanish) and Duo(The Owl) will start your course. There will sections like Basics, Phrases etc. Once you start any of the sections, you'll be awarded with XP for your progress.
But remember that while you start a course, there will be a progress bar above. Each time you get a correct answer, your progress bar will increase and each time you get an answer wrong, your progress bar will be deducted. This feature was updated from the heart system that was available in the previous version. And, yeah when complete a level without wrong answers, you'll be awarded a Lingot which you can use to unlock extra levels and new costumes for Duo the owl.

The Learning Process:-

Duolingo helps users to learn languages in a fun and intuitive way. This method of teaching languages makes people engaged and they'll never get bored. There are many ways in which Duolingo teaches people languages.
  • Duolingo asks you to speak phrases using your microphone and then evaluates it.


  • The app uses images to introduce you with new words. For Example :- If you just started learning, then you'll be shown a picture of a boy, girl or pictures of basic objects.(See images)

  • A word will spoken by the app, and you'll have to type what the word was. This will help you learn the proper pronunciation of words. If you didn't understand what the app told you then there will be a turtle button which will slow down the speed of the voice over.

  • You'll be given an English statement and there will be three translations of this sentence to the language you've selected. You should choose the correct translation and remember there can more than one answer to this question.

  • The next way that you'll be learning is through fill the blanks. There will be blank in the a random sentence of the language you selected(Spanish in my case). There will a few options and you've to select one correct option.

  • Duolingo will give a sentence in the selected language(Spanish in my case) and below there will be jumbled English words. You've have to select the correct translation in English from these words in the correct order. This can happen the vice-versa too. You'll be provided an English sentence and you've to translate it to your selected language.

  • The last type of question is through simple translation. You'll be provided with a sentence in your selected and you've to type the English translation. You can press thee speaker button to hear the sentence.

These are the methods used in Duolingo to teach languages. Once you've filed your progress bar to 100% you'll be awarded 10Xp. Complete courses and levels daily to get into a daily streak!

Other Features:-

Follow Friends:- There many other people using duolingo(millions of 'em). Search for your friends and follow them. If you've connected to duolingo with Google+ or facebook, then it will be easy to find your friends. Once you've found them, follow them and compare your progress with them. 

Sync Your Progress across all platforms:- What you complete in android app or in any other platform will be synced automatically, so that when you login to Duolingo on web-browser or app your progress will be saved.

 Support for multiple Courses:- You can learn more than one language with your Duolingo account. There are no limits. Only limitation is with your brains!! How much can you learn depends on your memory power!

 Fully Free!! :- Duolingo is fully free. It has no ads and no In-App purchases. So enjoy the college education for free!

 Open Discussion:- You have open discussion for each and every question you face. Once you've answered a question, there will be a callout icon on the dialog that appears that tells you whether your answer was correct or not. Once you click this icon an open forum will appear in which other users ask questions regarding the respective question. So if you have any doubt, consult this forum.


Choose Your daily goals:- You can set your daily goals. Daily goals is the amount of XP that you can get after completing a task. Increasing or decreasing daily goals changes the number questions that you will face.

 Conclusion

 I think duolingo is the best way to learn languages for free. As mentioned many times above, you'll definitely enjoy the learning process. Yeah, you should regularly use this app to strengthen your language skills. I would recommend this app for people who are into touring or business trips as they have travel around the world.
